Poetry for Physicists
A friend of a friend started a facebook group advocating equal rights for physics majors - if English majors can take a dumbed-down "physics for poets" class, why shouldn't science majors have the option of taking the same type of English class? (Besides for the fact that we're smarter than them and can handle it.)
Since facebook requires registration, I here provide an excerpt from the group's charter:
We men and women of science have long been suffering in silence, but we cannot allow this outrage to continue. As of now, we demand justice. We will throw off the 10.0 kg chains of opression at a velocity of 10.0 meters/second downward with a downward acceleration of 9.80 meters/second discounting air resistance, imparting a velocity of 61.0 m/s, a kinetic energy of 3,7100 J, a momentum of 610 kg(m)/s, and a quantum wavelength of 1.09x10^-36 meters after 5.20 seconds of freefall! This is our fight and we will win. Our cause is just.
Here is my suggestion for some sample poetry that such a course might cover:
My Thoughts
I think.
I think I think.
I think a thought I thought to think.
I think a thought I think I think.
I think I think a thought I think.
I think I thought I think I think.
I think I think I thought I think.
I think I think I think I think.
I think I think too much,
I think.
