Biodegradable LEDs
Check out this article. The gist of it is that apparently some butterflies' colors are generated in the same way an LED produces light. Cool. Does this mean I could light a room with African swallowtail butterflies?
Of course, the real question is, how does this affect the butterfly's airspeed velocity when carrying a coconut?

That is quite cool. How long to you think it will be before butterflies are hunted to make use of their winds in plasma TVs?
I want to see a guy with butterflies lighting up his room... that would be worth seeing.
