IDF Searches for Silliest Headgear

Personally, I can not understand why the beret is used in military uniforms. Who, exactly, decided that it's a good idea for soldiers to wear hats that looked like they've just deflated?

However, the IDF seems to have found an even odder form of headgear for its soldiers to wear: mushroom hats(?!). Apparently, their objective is to protect soldiers from the hot Israeli sun. I think, if they try a little, they might be able to find an alternative solution that doesn't make their soldiers look like the cat in the hat.
